This year, it is expected that reader apps (ebooks, videos, music, etc.) released on the App Store will be guided to external websites for payment *. Therefore, SB Payment Service Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp., conducted a questionnaire survey on consumers who are charging with apps using iPhones and iPads regarding their intention to use payment methods for each app and WEB browser. It was conducted. We will inform you of some excerpts of the results of the survey conducted.

<Survey results>
The percentage of heavy-chargers who charge more than 5,000 yen a month is 9.6% higher via a web browser than via an app.

When asked about the apps they usually use to those who use their iPhones and iPads to charge for apps, "ebooks (manga, comics)" accounted for the largest percentage at 80.4%, followed by "viewing videos" (77.1). %), "Game" (66.5%). Also, when the same service is provided by the app and the WEB browser, when asked about the average purchase amount for each month, the heavy billing layer that charges 5,000 yen or more per month is the person who pays via the WEB browser. We found that there were 9.6% more people who settle via the app. The payment methods that can be used in the app are limited to credit cards, Mobile Carrier Billing, Apple ID balances, etc., but since there is a tendency for more payment methods to be used in WEB browsers, bulk buying demand due to the implementation of large-scale campaigns by payment institutions, etc. Is thought to be a factor in raising the purchase price.

The number of payment methods that can be used is "become" as a trigger to switch services, but 52.9%

When asked which method to use, one-touch payment using the Apple ID from the app or payment via the WEB browser from the app, 52.9% said "I want to make a payment with the app" and 26.0% until the payment is completed. Even if the number of steps increased, I answered "I want to make a payment from the app via a web browser".

When asked why they would like to make a one-touch payment using their Apple ID from the app, 59.3% answered that they would like to purchase quickly. When asked why they would like to make a payment via a web browser from the app, they combined "you can use the payment methods you want" (43.1%) and "you can get a good service through a payment institution campaign" (36.2%). Approximately 80% of the respondents answered, and it can be seen that there is a tendency to emphasize the use of the desired payment methods and the ability to make payments at a reasonable price.

Also, when asked if increasing the number of payment methods that can be used when using services provided only by apps will trigger a switch to services provided by both apps and web browsers, 52.9%. Answered "become". From this, it can be seen that the number of payment methods that can be used is deeply linked to the intention to use the service.

40.2% of the payment methods you want to use with a web browser are "PayPay (Online Payment)"

When asked about the payment methods that they would like to use other than the payment methods that can be used with the app (credit card, Mobile Carrier Billing, Apple ID balance, etc.), "PayPay (Online Payment)" was 40.2% and "RakutenPay(Online)" was 21.2. %, "LINE Pay" is 12.7%, and QR code payment is selected at the top of the list. The reasons are "easy to use" (28.9%) and "good return rate for points and campaigns" ( 27.0%) is in the top. From this, it is thought that having QR code payment as a payment methods that can be used with a web browser will lead to an increase in the purchase price and factors for selecting a service.

For businesses, payment fees tend to be high for in-app payments, so it may be possible to reduce payment fees by switching to a web browser and having them make payments. Businesses that handle digital content such as e-books and videos should take this opportunity to expand their payment methods on their websites. SB Payment Service Corp. provides a wealth of payment methods that are indispensable for EC sites as a PSP. We will propose the most suitable payment methods according to the type of business and business type, so please contact SB Payment Service Corp. once.
