    • ・Operation becomes simpler with just one device, and it can now handle new payment needs such as Rakuten Pay and d払い.

What challenges did you face before implementation?

We had a lot of large cash payments, which meant not only had to count the cash ourselves but also had to have the bank collect the cash regularly, which was a huge burden in terms of management and security.
Furthermore, we were using a wired payment terminal, which meant we had to ask customers to move to the location of the terminal, and we felt bad about that.

What prompted you to adopt SB Payment Service (SBPS)'s payment terminals, and what were the deciding factors?

It all started with an email notification sent through an industry association.
The deciding factors were the lower transaction fees and terminal costs compared to our previous payment terminal, its portability allowing payments anywhere, and the convenience of being able to handle both credit card and QR code payments with a single device.
I was able to communicate with the SBPS sales representative via email, and the implementation went smoothly without any particular concerns.

What changes have you seen since the implementation?

A major advantage is that payments can now be made at each hall on the premises.
Furthermore, the ability to compile sales slips online has reduced the workload.
Previously, we also offered PayPay by having customers scan a QR code, but now we use a single terminal that can handle multiple payment methods.
I'm very grateful that they now accept Rakuten Pay and d払い, which they didn't support before.
Previously, with home funerals, payment had to be made in cash or by traveling to the funeral hall. Now, payment can be made on the spot, and the money can be collected reliably, improving convenience.

What has the customer reaction been like?

There's a demand for using cards if payment can be made on the spot, and more people are using cards even for high-value transactions in the millions of yen, so the frequency of card usage is increasing.
For small payments such as the cost of flowers for offerings, QR code payment services like PayPay are commonly used.
Customers appreciate being able to pay immediately with cashless payment even in situations where they suddenly can't withdraw cash.

Do you think the funeral industry will become even more cashless in the future?

It will definitely increase.
In today's world, the inability to use a credit card can lead to lost opportunities.
The ability to process payments anywhere with just one device is a huge advantage, and if you can implement it at a low cost with SBPS's special plan for the funeral industry, I recommend adopting it sooner rather than later to avoid being left behind.
