When compared with the results of similar surveys conducted three times in the past (FY 2018, 2020, and 2021), the percentage of people who chose "Credit Card Payment" when purchasing both goods and digital content has increased since 2018. It will decrease by about 20% until FY2022, and instead, the ratio of "PayPay (Online Payment)" will be over 22% in FY2022, indicating that "Credit Card Payment" has emerged. Furthermore, the ratio of “RakutenPay(Online)” has exceeded 11% and is growing year by year, indicating the increasing popularity of QR code payment services that can be used both online and in real life.

“Yahoo! Wallet Payment” is more popular among men in their 20s to 40s, and “RakutenPay(Online)” is more popular among women in their 10s to 40s compared to other generations.

I understand. In addition, among women in their 20s and 60s, “RakutenPay(Online)” ranked high, indicating that “RakutenPay(Online)” is popular among women, just like product sales.

The percentage of Credit Card Payment will decrease further from FY2021, and instead “PayPay (Online Payment)” and “ID payment” will emerge.

Comparing the results of the past three surveys (FY 2018, 2020, and 2021) on the most used payment methods, we found that in FY 2022, "Credit Card Payment" will be the most used payment method for both goods and digital content purchases. The percentage of 2021 has decreased further to about 60%, and "ID payment" such as Apple Pay and Amazon Pay is selected as the third place after "PayPay (Online Payment)". "ID payment" is gaining popularity year by year because it allows you to make purchases quickly and easily just by entering your ID and password without the hassle of entering credit card numbers and purchaser information. In addition to "PayPay (Online Payment)", "RakutenPay(Online)" and "au PAY (online payment)" were selected as the top digital content sites, and the intention to use the QR code payment service is particularly high. More than 53% of men and women leave without purchasing if there is no payment methods they use frequently

When asked what they would do if there was no payment methods that they often use when purchasing goods or digital content on an EC site, more than 53% of the respondents purchased either goods or digital content on the EC site. It turns out that there is a tendency to leave without doing anything. These results continue to show similar trends from 2018, so we believe that having a wide range payment methods is an important factor in operating an EC site. Businesses that operate EC sites can increase the purchase rate of consumers by offering payment methods with high consumer needs such as "Credit Card Payment", "PayPay (Online Payment)", and "ID payment". Isn't it connected?

Despite the easing of the tendency to refrain from going out, the intention to use online shopping remains high

When asked if there was a change in the frequency of purchases on EC sites in 2022 compared to 2021, more than 51% of men and women in their teens on product sales sites and 50% of men in their teens on digital content sites said, "Increase. It can be seen that the frequency of online shopping has increased significantly, especially among teenagers. The ratio of “Increase” exceeded the “Decrease” ratio across all age groups, and although there was a trend of easing the trend of refraining from going out in 2022, it is believed that the intention to continue using online shopping is high.
