SB Payment Service Corp. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CISO: Tomonori Hotta; "SBPS") and Net Protections, Inc. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shin Shibata; "Net Protections") have entered into a comprehensive agreement to integrate SBPS's online payment service with Net Protections' Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service, atone.

Through this partnership, SBPS merchants can seamlessly implement atone to reach the non-credit card user segment and reduce cart abandonment through a frictionless checkout experience. This integration is designed to drive new customer acquisition and increase Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) for merchants. SBPS is scheduled to begin accepting applications for "atone" starting late June 2026.

Background and Objectives

As the e-commerce market expands, demand for BNPL services has surged among consumers who either do not own credit cards or prefer not to enter card information online.

By partnering with SBPS; one of Japan's leading Payment Service Providers, merchants can now add atone to the portfolio of over 40 payment brands. For users, atone offers the flexibility to pay after receiving the purchased goods. For merchants, it provides an instant, registration-free checkout process that significantly lowers drop-off rates and expands the potential customer base.
